Deskset: Unit Converter (“Deskset”) converts units of length, weight, temperature, cooking and more, on your phone. It is developed by Aneest Studio (“we”). This page explains what the app keeps, where anything goes, and how to remove it.
The short version
- Deskset has no account, no ads, no usage analytics and no tracking.
- What you type and choose stays on your phone, and in your phone’s own backup if you use one. We have no server that receives it.
- The only service Deskset talks to is the one that handles Deskset Pro: it checks your purchase with Apple or Google through RevenueCat.
What stays on your phone
Every conversion is worked out on the phone. Deskset stores these on your device only:
- the conversion on screen, each kind of unit as you left it, your recent pairs and recently picked units;
- your settings: theme, accent colour, decimal places, inch fractions and haptics;
- with Deskset Pro, your pinned pairs, your conversion history (the last 100, which you can delete one by one or all at once) and the units you add yourself;
- whether Deskset Pro is unlocked, so it stays unlocked when you are offline;
- a few counts that decide when Deskset may ask you to rate it: the day you first opened it, how many results you have copied, on how many days you used it, and when it last asked.
Deskset writes to your clipboard only when you copy a result, and never reads it. We never receive any of the above, and deleting the app deletes it from your phone.
Your phone’s own backups
If your phone’s backup is turned on (iCloud Backup on iPhone, or Google’s backup on Android), Apple or Google may include what is listed above in that backup, under their own terms. That is why your settings, pins, history and units can come back when you restore a backup or install Deskset again on the same Apple or Google account. We never see or receive your backups. You can turn backups off, or delete them, in your phone’s settings.
Purchases
Deskset Pro is a one-time purchase made through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handle the payment; we never see your card details.
To check the purchase, the app uses RevenueCat, a purchase service. It asks RevenueCat when the app opens (so Pro stays unlocked, and is removed if a purchase is refunded), when you open Settings or the Deskset Pro page (for the price), and when you buy or restore. RevenueCat receives an anonymous ID that the app creates on your device, your purchase records from the store, and basic technical details such as the app version, the operating system version, your store country and the IP address the request comes from. It does not receive your name or email, and nothing about what you convert. We use this to unlock Deskset Pro on your devices. RevenueCat also shows us purchase totals, such as how many people bought Deskset Pro, but not who they are.
Ratings
Now and then Deskset may show the store’s own rating window, or open the store page when you tap “Rate the app”. Anything you write there goes to Apple or Google under their terms, not to us.
If you write to us
“Send feedback” in Settings opens your own email app with a message to us. It ends with the app version and your phone’s system version, which you can see and remove before sending. Nothing is sent unless you send it. We use what you write, and your email address, only to read and answer your message.
Who else is involved
- Apple: App Store purchases and ratings.
- Google: Google Play purchases and ratings.
- RevenueCat: checking and restoring purchases, as described above.
We don’t sell or share anything with anyone else, and Deskset contains no advertising or analytics code.
Permissions
- Internet: only for checking, buying and restoring Deskset Pro, and for opening this page, the terms and the store page in your browser. Deskset converts fully offline. Feedback goes through your own email app.
Deskset does not ask for your location, contacts, microphone, camera or photos, and does not ask to track you.
This website
These pages use no cookies, scripts or web fonts. Like any web server, ours keeps a short-lived log of requests (IP address, page and time) for security; it is not used for anything else.
Removing your data
Deleting Deskset removes everything it stored on your phone. You can also clear your history in the app at any time. A copy may stay in your phone’s own backup until you delete that backup or it is replaced. To have RevenueCat’s anonymous purchase record removed, email us; your purchase itself stays with Apple or Google, so you can still restore it.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing the address below. As everything stays on your phone (and in your phone’s own backup, if you use one), there is usually nothing on our side beyond RevenueCat’s anonymous record. We answer within 30 days. If you live in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Deskset is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age where you live) and collects no personal information from anyone. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email aneesrnmba@gmail.com and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects what is collected or how it is used, we’ll say so in the app.
